No, removing the bike’s motor is never required.
One of the major upgrades for the Gen 4 model is the easy-install cable. It is designed to connect to the speed sensor and TCU without requiring the heavy lifting of unmounting the motor, making it a true DIY-friendly upgrade.
The Gen 2 & 3 models are even easier to install, they only require the quick removal of the Mastermind TCU. A true plug-and-play expierence.
